'Expert' is fraudster.


A CONMAN who posed as a forensic scientist for 27 years was facing jail yesterday after being convicted of deception deception n. the act of misleading another through intentionally false statements or fraudulent actions. (See: fraud, deceit) .

Gene Morrison, 48, may have made up to pounds 100,000 a year as an expert witness used by solicitors to defend clients on serious charges.

But all he had was a fake doctorate bought from an online uni Uni (`nē), fl. c.2325 B.C., Egyptian official of the VI dynasty. His career is known through his private inscription.  - and now up to 600 cases across the UK may have to be reviewed.

Morrison, of Hyde, will be sentenced at Manchester crown court today.
