'Exclusive' at CW online.Famed photographer and "Photocritique" columnist columnist, the writer of an essay appearing regularly in a newspaper or periodical, usually under a constant heading. Although originally humorous, the column in many cases has supplanted the editorial for authoritative opinions on world problems. Philip N. Douglis, ABC ABC in full American Broadcasting Co. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928. , marks his 40-year anniversary with IABC IABC International Association of Business Communicators IABC Indo-Americans for Better Community and its predecessor, the International Council of Industrial Editors (ICIE ICIE International Center for Information Ethics (Germany) ICIE International Council of Industrial Editors ICIE Idaho Council on Industry & the Environment ). Douglis initially worked as an editor and photographer for ICIE's Reporting magazine. At the time, his photos--which steered clear of the typical grip-and-grin shots and adopted a more photo-journalistic approach--ignited controversy for their untraditional Adj. 1. untraditional - not conforming to or in accord with tradition; "nontraditional designs"; "nontraditional practices" nontraditional style. But Douglis persevered, penning a column for ICIE's magazine that focused on how to apply the techniques and concepts of photojournalism to organizational publications. The column, known today as Photocritique, drew many requests for workshops and seminars on the subject, resulting in the creation of The Douglis Visual Workshops, offered twice annually in Arizona. Douglis was among the first to receive accreditation from IABC, and in 1980, attained the special distinction of IABC Fellow. Douglis has consistently enlightened readers about the visual world: "I get great pleasure from helping organizational communicators communicate more effectively with pictures," he says.
