'Everyone was winner on this special evening'.

Byline: By ANDREW HIRST Deputy News Editor

GET your nomination in now and massively raise the profile of your organisation.

That's the advice from one of last year's Examiner Community Awards winners.

Stacey Rodgers won the award for Services To The Community at the glittering awards at the Galpharm Stadium The Stadium
The Galpharm Stadium seats 24,500 people along with hospitality boxes and conference rooms. There are four stands. The Riverside 'main' Stand incorporates two-tiers, with a row of 26 executive boxes running between the two tiers.
 last Autumn.

The awards have moved to an earlier date this year - Monday, June 23.

Stacey's 10-year-old son, Dominic, died after fumes from a faulty boiler and blocked flue at a neighbouring house seeped into his bedroom at their Fartown home in 2004.

His determined mum has campaigned tirelessly ever since to warn people about the deadly threat of carbon monoxide carbon monoxide, chemical compound, CO, a colorless, odorless, tasteless, extremely poisonous gas that is less dense than air under ordinary conditions. It is very slightly soluble in water and burns in air with a characteristic blue flame, producing carbon dioxide;  and set up the Dominic Rodgers Trust to raise awareness about the killer gas.

Stacey said: "Winning the Examiner award has certainly raised the Trust's profile. But it wasn't about winning. Everyone who was there that night was a winner because simply by being shortlisted the good work they do had been highlighted in the Examiner and again at the event.

"It was a fantastic evening. I couldn't fault it.

Listening to the stories of what others do was a wonderful experience." Examiner editor Roy Wright Gordon "Roy" Wright (born 23 February 1929, died 30 July 2002) was an Australian rules football player with the Richmond Football Club in the VFL during the 1940s and 1950s, and television personality during the 1960s.  added: "The nomination form is printed in the Examiner regularly and people can also nominate online via our website.

"It's a quick process, taking only a few minutes, so nominate someone today.

"It may be someone who has given a dedicated, selfless service to others for many years or someone who has achieved something remarkable against all the odds. Whatever it is, we want to hear from you.

"And by nominating people you will be raising the public profile of their charity or organisations." The awards will once again be staged at The Galpharm Stadium and for the second successive year the executive sponsor is Cummins Turbo Technologies which prides itself on its close links with the community.

The company won an award at the first Examiner Community Awards in 2000 for its outstanding contribution to the community.

It is a world leader in the design and manufacture of turbochargers and supplies class-leading turbocharger technology to the world's largest engine makers.

These are the eighth annual awards and we are seeking nominations for all except the special Lifetime Achievement Award which is decided by a panel of judges and goes to someone with Huddersfield connections who has gone on to great things.

Last year's went to Yorkshire artist Ashley Jackson who lives in Holmfirth.
