. is looking at "ER" hunk George Clooney George Timothy Clooney (May 6, 1961) is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter who gained fame as the lead doctor in the long-running television drama, ER  as a possible replacement.

Conflicting reasons were offered as to why Kilmer may not resume the role that he took over after Michael Keaton exited the franchise.

Sources inside Warner Bros. said that it had to do with Kilmer's scheduling conflicts. However, Kilmer is believed to have been locked in to a sequel as part of the contract when he starred in the third "Batman" installment, "Batman Forever."

In the wake of the success of "From Dusk Till Dawn," Clooney - star of television's hottest series - also is considered a feature commodity.

But casting him in the lead as Batman would present its own set of problems. The next Batman picture, "Batman and Robin," is set to start filming this fall when "ER" will be back into shooting for the 1996-97 TV season. In order for Clooney to assume the Batman role, the producers of "ER" would have to be willing and able to adjust their schedule to accommodate "Batman's." However, "ER" is a Warner Bros. series.
