'Disabled' gang preys on elderly; CRIME.SICK con men are using wheelchairs to rob unsuspecting pensioners. The attacks have caused outrage in Donegal where gardai are warning people to be on the alert. The warning comes after fraudsters pretending to have disabilities called to the homes of pensioners before distracting dis·tract tr.v. dis·tract·ed, dis·tract·ing, dis·tracts 1. To cause to turn away from the original focus of attention or interest; divert. 2. To pull in conflicting emotional directions; unsettle. them and then stealing cash. A man using a wheelchair was involved in one of the incidents. Letterkenny-based disability awareness and equality trainer, Frank Larkin, said he was speechless over the scam (SCSI Configured AutoMatically) A subset of Plug and Play that allows SCSI IDs to be changed by software rather than by flipping switches or changing jumpers. Both the SCSI host adapter and peripheral must support SCAM. See SCSI. . He added: "I just can't believe that people would stoop that low." Gardai urged people "to look out for the elderly". |
