March of Dimes is the name of a United States health charity, whose mission is to improve the health of babies.
 WalkAmerica participants can increase their dollar contribution by first registering online at WalkAmerica.org. WalkAmerica national sponsor CIGNA CIGNA CG (Connecticut General Life Insurance Company) INA (Insurance Company of North America)  will donate $5 for each online registration, up to $600,000.

Some seven million walkers, sponsors and volunteers in 1,100 communities nationwide are expected to take part in the 2004 WalkAmerica with most occurring on April 24-25. " The March of Dimes hopes to raise more than $90 million to support lifesaving research, education, community service and advocacy programs to save babies from birth defects birth defects, abnormalities in physical or mental structure or function that are present at birth. They range from minor to seriously deforming or life-threatening. , and Discovery Health Channel are also national sponsors of WalkAmerica 2004. Visitors to Kmart, Famous Footwear or Discovery Stores can pick up a paper registration form or make a contribution to the March of Dimes at checkout.

Approximately 20,000 teams participate in WalkAmerica nationwide, drawn from corporations, unions, schools, clubs and other organizations.
