'Charge dog owners with manslaughter'.

A PLASTIC surgeon plastic surgeon A surgeon specialized in reconstruction or cosmetic enhancement of various body regions, most commonly the face–nose, chin, and cheeks, breasts and buttocks; PSs remove fat deposits through liposuction; PSs reduce scarring or disfigurement  who treats child dog victims says people whose pets kill should be charged with manslaughter.

Alder Hey consultant Christian Duncan believes every child in Merseyside should have lessons to control dogs.

Back in October, the ECHO revealed that a child a day was being treated for injuries from dog attacks. They included nine-year-old Nikkita Douglas, from Norris Green History
Norris Green is a large housing estate and council ward in Liverpool, England comprising some 1,500 dwellings, it is locally known as "Noggsy". It was built in the 1920s on land donated to the city by Lord Derby, who was at the time resident at nearby Knowsley
, and 11-year-old Natasha Fox, from Toxteth.

Mr Duncan said: "Dog owners have to be responsible for the damage the dog does.

"You should be liable in just the same way as if you ran somebody over or shot them.

"If a dog kills somebody, that ' person should be up on a charge " of manslaughter.

"You can teach children and people how to behave around dogs - it is important schools teach that."

The surgeon has warned that statistics show at least one more dog victim, typically aged two to 10-years-old, will be brought into Alder Hey this year.

He said: "Once a year at least you will get a bite which is life-threatening. We need responsible breeders and responsible owners."
