), the annual competition encourages artists to explore new directions in digital visual expression in the Internet era. This year, the contest attracted 5,025 submissions from 77 countries and regions.

Launched in 2000, the Canon Digital Creators Contest seeks to uncover new talent from among the next generation of creators in the world of digital visual expression. Canon is a worldwide leader in digital imaging technology found in copiers, printers, cameras, camcorders and many other product sectors. On behalf of Canon Inc., Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary, promotes the contest and accepts submissions throughout the Americas.

Prizes totaling more than $115,000 in money and products were awarded. The winning artists from the U.S. received recognition in each of the four contest categories -- Digital Photo, Digital Graphics/Illustration, Digital Movie and Web.

Digital Graphics/Illustration: Hyoun Sook Lim of California received a Silver Award for Day and Night. This is a two-piece pattern in which its units repeat a subtle metamorphosis, with the pattern gradually changing over space while simultaneously repeating and not repeating.
