Ms Charlton, of Meadowfield Gardens, in Walkerville, Newcastle, is facing a total of 20 fraud charges and two of theft. The 25-year-old faced allegations at Gateshead Magistrates' Court yesterday that she used her grandmother's chequebook to obtain goods worth pounds 126,000. It is alleged the money was spent on organising a charity fashion show using models with cancer at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead, which never took place. She is also alleged to have used pounds 10,000 for a wedding booking and given friends pounds 50,000 for a house deposit. Further allegations are that she bought various gifts for her fiance with the cash. And, Ms Charlton was also charged with making an online loan application with Alliance and Leicester in her fiance's name to obtain pounds 8,000 and of using his cheque book cheque book Noun a book of detachable blank cheques issued by a bank to buy pounds 28,000 of goods. Also she allegedly conned people into thinking she had terminal cancer to obtain the services of a carer for two days-a-week. No pleas were entered by the defendant who only spoke to confirm her name and address at the 15-minute hearing before Gateshead magistrates. Prosecutor Justin Gibson told magistrates that the Crown Prosecution Service Defending, Richard Graham told the court there would be no indication of plea at this time. The bench declined jurisdiction and the case was adjourned till December 4 when Ms Charlton will be committed to Newcastle Crown Court. Ms Charlton was granted unconditional HEIR, UNCONDITIONAL.
