Ms Charlton, of Meadowfield Gardens, in Walkerville, Newcastle, is facing a total of 20 fraud charges and two of theft.

The 25-year-old faced allegations at Gateshead Magistrates' Court yesterday that she used her grandmother's chequebook to obtain goods worth pounds 126,000. It is alleged the money was spent on organising a charity fashion show using models with cancer at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead, which never took place.

She is also alleged to have used pounds 10,000 for a wedding booking and given friends pounds 50,000 for a house deposit.

Further allegations are that she bought various gifts for her fiance with the cash. And, Ms Charlton was also charged with making an online loan application with Alliance and Leicester in her fiance's name to obtain pounds 8,000 and of using his cheque book cheque book
