"We came out a little flat," Renaissance Academy head coach Sid Cooke said. "That trip to Fresno on Tuesday took a lot out of us. Yader couldn't really get going with the groin injury. It's been a long season."

The Wildcats only made problems worse for themselves right after the opening tip with several turnovers, missed layups, and allowed too many second and third chances for the Knights.

Despite the deficiencies, Renaissance Academy used an 8-2 second quarter run and then first half points from sophomore Hector Harold to trail 25-21 at the half.

Things got worse in the third quarter as the Knights went on a 15-4 run and pushed the lead up to as many as 16 points.

Junior Jason Pruitt, a transfer from Artesia of Lakewood and younger brother of USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  star Gabe Pruitt scored 10 points in the quarter and finished with 27 points to lead View Park Prep.

Renaissance Academy sorely missed the always reliable Thomas. All season long Thomas facilitated the offense and was a reliable outside shooter. Thomas played sparingly and only for short stints, but couldn't put weight on the ankle or cut effectively limiting his productivity on the court.

"He was averaging over 20 points in the playoffs and was breaking people down," Cooke said. "Not having Josh was a huge loss tonight."

Renaissance Academy trailed by as many as 22 points early in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats made a furious rally keyed by baskets from Justin Cook, Harold, and two 3-pointers from Combs. The Wildcats ended the game on a 27-9 run but it was too little, too late.

Cook finished with 19 points as Harold contributed 18. Combs and sophomore Matt Raya Raya may refer to:
