An overworked, long-suffering local detective, Inspector Levine (a masterfully timed, professional performance by J. Paul Vincent) patiently tries to solve the mystery.

When an attractive woman claiming she's Corban's missing wife (Denice Stradling) appears on the scene, Corban emphatically insists to Levine that he doesn't know her. Levine jokingly suggests that since she's pretty and driving a yellow Mustang, he should claim her anyway. She stays to take care of Corban, despite his protests.

Kelleher can't confirm his identity, but Levine's call to the parish verifies him.

The plot heats up with interesting facts: Corban's got a fairly large insurance policy, Elizabeth is the heir to her aunt's fortune, and Corban may be under a psychiatrist's care.

When Levine leaves, Elizabeth remains and frankly tells Corban that she is plotting his death to inherit the fortune, and Father Kelleher's in on it. When Corban's boss, Everett Parker, and Parker's girlfriend (Hal Conley and Valerie Belardinelli) unexpectedly show up, Parker tells Inspector Levine that the Elizabeth in the cabin is the real one, despite Corban's pleas.

As the play draws to a close, the audience is kept in suspense, guessing who is telling the truth, and who isn't. The final, surprise twist is amazing a·maze
