'Building society targeted'.


WALES'S Principality is said to be on a list of building societies being considered for possible takeover by the National Australia Bank.

The group already owns the Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks and is circling a number of UK building societies, a Sunday newspaper has reported.

It is understood to be considering launching a takeover bid Noun 1. takeover bid - an offer to buy shares in order to take over the company
two-tier bid - a takeover bid where the acquirer offers to pay more for the shares needed to gain control than for the remaining shares
 for either the Chelsea or Newcastle building societies.

It is also thought to be looking at Wales' Principality Building Society Principality is a Welsh building society based in Cardiff, Wales. With assets of just over £4bn it is Wales' largest building society and the 12th largest in the UK.

It was founded in 1860 in Cardiff by William Sanders[1].
