'Branding' Yourself for Enhanced Achievement.Just as Citigroup Inc., Bank of America Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co. have brands with assets that they develop and pitch to consumers, you--the marketer--also has personal assets that you must build upon, market and expand in order to further career and personal goals. That's the premise of Stedman Graham, management and marketing consultant, in his new book "Build Your Own Life Brand." Graham will be the keynote speaker at the ABA Marketing Conference, Oct 14-17, at the Hyatt Regency, Chicago. He will discuss his concept of a "life brand," which he believes is the key to achieving personal and professional success. 'When you build a life brand, you create a method for sharing your gifts and putting them to their highest use--for your benefit and for the benefit of everyone within your reach," he writes. Graham is chairman and CEO of S. Graham & Associates (SGA), management and marketing consulting firm, and SGA Training and Development, an educational company that creates customized corporate training and leadership development programs. He is the author of two previous personal development books, 'You Can Make It Happen," and 'Teens Can Make It Happen." He is also widely known for his long friendship and companionship with television talk-show hostess Oprah Winfrey. Graham will discuss, step-by-step, how to identify your personal assets/gifts, make them widely known, and nurture and enhance them throughout your life. Some of the questions he asks to assist you in building your personal brand include: * What talents, knowledge, skills and personal characteristics do you have that add value to the lives of those around you? * What can you do to build on your strengths so that you stand out from other people in your profession, in your relationships and in your communities? * What do you value most? In your work? In your relationships? In your community life? Recognizing that everyone is pulled in many directions by diverse responsibilities, Graham will provide tools to enable you to become focused and in control. Since the emphasis of his talk is on everyday life, Graham will introduce real examples of men and women (from sports heroes to unsung waitresses) who have created successful' life brands- standouts who add value to their workplaces, their families and their communities-at-large. Each of the attendees at this session will receive a signed copy of the "Build Your Own Life Brand" book, which was published in March. |
