Hyrian will help fill even more positions with the opening of a new East Coast hub in Brooklyn, N.Y., to meet the rapid growth of its flexible OnDemand services. The expansion dramatically increases the company's recruiting footprint on its 10th anniversary.

Solomons founded Hyrian with a partner in 1997 after six years as a recruiter, offering a solution that has come to be known throughout the industry as Recruitment Process Outsourcing Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) is a form of business process outsourcing (BPO) where an employer outsources or transfers all or part of its recruitment activities to an external service provider.  or RPO - a term Hyrian is credited with inventing. Solomons had noticed that companies were spending a great deal of money on headhunters who "lacked accountability" and that the recruiting industry desperately needed to embrace technology.

"Before RPO, there was little transparency with recruitment vendors," Solomons said. "It was paramount that we become more of a partner with clients."

From offices in Los Angeles and Minneapolis, Hyrian's OnDemand division oversees the recruitment process for nearly 100 companies nationwide. The New York New York, state, United States

Through either division, Hyrian can augment or replace the entire recruitment function for a company with full transparency. Clients are charged flat fees, and the costs correlate with the amount of effort required to fill each position. That was an unheard-of practice 10 years ago when nearly all recruiters charged companies 20 to 30 percent of each new hire's yearly salary.

Utilizing the growing capability of the Internet during the past decade, Hyrian has created an assembly-line approach that serves as the foundation for everything the firm does. All parts of its RPO model - from advertising the positions, sourcing the best qualified candidates, screening and interviewing to negotiating and ultimately bringing them on board for their first day of work - are broken into specialized jobs.

"We anticipate additional growth as the impact of retiring baby boomers continues to challenge employers for the next 20 years," Solomons said. "Ultimately, nothing hurts your bottom line more than key seats being empty and difficult to fill - except a bad hire."

Ten years since opening the doors at Hyrian, the better way of recruiting that Solomons envisioned, has become a reality. And, the firm's now proven RPO model is becoming a necessity for companies to compete for an ever-diminishing pool of talent.
