'Booze Asbos' will curb bad behaviour; VOICE OF THE NORTH.PEOPLE across the region who commit crimes or behave badly while drunk could now face a Drinking Banning Order or a "booze Booze sold cheap whiskey in a log-cabin bottle. [Am. Hist.: Espy, 152–153] See : Drunkenness Asbo". Under new Government powers which came into force last month, North councils and Northumbria Police Northumbria Police is the Home Office police force responsible for policing the areas of Northumberland and Tyne and Wear in England. The service is the sixth largest police constabulary in England or Wales. As of April 2005, the current Chief Constable is Mike Craik. can seek an order on anyone aged 16 or over. Courts can then ban them from pubs, bars and certain neighbourhoods for up to two years. Those individuals who breach the "booze Asbo" will be fined up to pounds 2,500. For some years now disorder and anti-social behaviour linked to drink costs towns and cities across the region thousands of pounds. The new orders have the potential to stop those people known to their communities from ruining other people's nights out and qualify of life. Journal readers will be pleased to read that most councils will adopt the new powers given to them by the Government.
