'Bogus firemen' banned; Pair face 29 counts of fraud.

TWO cousins who allegedly passed themselves off as firefighters are banned from every fire station in the UK under the conditions of a renewed interim anti-social behaviour order (asbo).

Peter Higham and Barry McGuinness face a total of 29 charges of fraud in a case due to be heard at Liverpool crown court later this year.

They are accused of posing as firefighters to collect equipment from stations across Merseyside, saying it was to be donated do·nate

Higham, 28, of Rollo Street, Kirkdale, and McGuinness, 27, of St Domingo Vale, Everton, spoke only to confirm their names and dates of birth when they appeared at North Liverpool Community Justice Centre yesterday. The hearing was to determine whether their interim order should be extended until a full asbo could be sought.

Jim Clarke, representing Merseyside police Merseyside Police is the Home Office police force responsible for policing Merseyside in North West England.

The force area is 647 square kilometres with a population of around 1.5 million. At present the force has 4,466 police officers plus over 2,000 police staff.
, said: "They are self-serving individuals after an ego boost, nothing more." The original interim asbo banned the pair from possessing any part of any uniform or from having equipment associated with the services. This ruling, along with the ban from every UK fire station, was extended to July 6 while the criminal case is being heard..
