'Azzurri must work hard to frustrate French'.


Italy captain Marco Bortolami Marco Bortolami (b. 12 June 1980) is an Italian rugby union player and currently the captain of Italy's national team.

Bortalami began his playing career with the team of his native Padua, making his debut in the second row aged just 18.

The young lock reckons the Azzurri need to emulate the performances from their opening two games and try to frustrate Les Bleus ''Les Bleus is often used in a French sporting context, and in particular may refer to:
  • France national football team
  • France national rugby union team
 in the Stade de France.

Those displays may have both ended in defeat against Ireland and England, but were a vast improvement on Italy's showing in the Six Nations in recent seasons, and 25-year-old Bortolami believes next Saturday's game may finally yield their first away win in the competition.

He said: 'Our defence must be everywhere to contain their attacks and trying to breakdown their pace, and if we are still in the game as time goes on, this will be more than interesting, and frustration may come to the French team.

'If they are going into the pitch at 100 per cent, it will be hard for us, but not impossible.

'France are a great team, especially if they face you on a great day.

'They can easily thrash you, especially in the first part of the game, but we must hang in there.'
