) today announced plans to open several convenient bank branches in Staten Island Staten Island (1990 pop. 378,977), 59 sq mi (160 sq km), SE N.Y., in New York Bay, SW of Manhattan, forming Richmond co. of New York state and the borough of Staten Island of New York City. , N.Y. Commerce Bank's move into the borough of Staten Island is a key element in the bank's ambitious 400-branch metro New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 development plan.

The first Staten Island branches are scheduled to open in the fall of this year and will be located in:

    Bulls Head - Richmond Ave. and Eton Place
    Old Town - Hyland Blvd. and Burgher Ave.


Locations under consideration for future branch development include:

    Pleasant Plains         Great Kills
    Castleton Corners       Eltingville
    New Dorp


All of the locations will offer seven-day-a-week branch banking and free checking along with other customer amenities such as free coin counting machines. Commerce will complement its metro New York branch network by providing customers with convenient access to America's best on-line banking site at www.commerceonline.com.
