his Bolton teammate Gary Cahill Gary James Cahill (born December 19, 1985 in Sheffield, England) is an English footballer who currently plays for Sheffield United as a defender, on loan from Aston Villa. .

Davies (left) is the top English scorer in the Premier League, but missed the cut after Capello named him in his original 28-man squad.

Cahill, who was also omitted after being included in the provisional squad, claims Davies would do a better job for England than Emile Heskey Emile William Ivanhoe Heskey[6] (born January 11 1978 in Leicester, England)[1] is an English footballer. Known for his pace and strength,[7] he is a striker currently playing for Premier League side Wigan Athletic. .

"I'd much rather face Heskey than Davo," said the centre-half.

"You can't get into a tussle or fight with him. You're never going to win. How do you play against him? You haven't got much of a chance. He's a great player to have in your team.

"He is a real handful and plays differently to other strikers. I've seen him bully a few top-class centre-halves this season because he's so awkward.

"He's a handful, even in training. I remember playing against him earlier in my career when I was a young lad and marking him was so tough."

Cahill suspects Bolton's slump in form might have counted against him and Davies.

Wanderers have taken just one point from their last three league games. "When you're in a winning team, players look better," added Cahill.

"It's no coincidence that the players who are usually talked up for an England place are playing in a team that is winning games.

"If you're losing then you never get a mention."
