'ART' FOR ART'S SAKE CROWD-PLEASING COMEDY OPENS FRIDAY.

NEWHALL - The comedy ``Art,'' written by Yasmina Reza Yasmina Reza (born 1 May 1959[1]), is a French playwright, actress, novelist and screenwriter. Her parents were both of Jewish origin, her father Iranian, her mother Hungarian[2].  and translated by Christopher Hampton, opens at the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Repertory Theatre repertory theatre

Production of several different plays in a single season by a resident acting company. The plays chosen may be classic works by famous dramatists or new works by emerging playwrights, and the companies that perform them often serve as a training ground for
 with an opening-night party at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Tony Award-winning comedy, a long-running hit in Paris, London and on Broadway, combines wit, debate and an emotional complexity to create a moving piece of theater.

In the play, Serge has purchased a white painting for an exorbitant amount of money. His friend, Marc, is deeply disturbed "Deeply Disturbed" is a CD single by the Israeli psychedelic trance duo Infected Mushroom, realeased in July 2003 on the label Absolute.  by this, and their friend, Yvan, tries to hold the friendship together.

Starring as the three friends are Craig Duswalt, the Rep's producing artistic director; Eddie Frierson Edward Davies Frierson (born November 22, 1959 in Sherman Oaks, California), better known as Eddie Frierson, is an American voice actor and stage actor who is also known as Christy Mathewson, Ted Richards, and Eric Frierson , who appeared last year in his one-man show, ``Matty: An Evening With Christy Mathewson''; and veteran actor Sean Everett.

Shawn Mitchell is the stage manager, Charles Deuschle is the lighting designer, and Steve Berkholder is the sound designer.

``We've been blessed once again with a great cast and great people behind the scenes,'' Duswalt said.

After a slow summer at the Rep, Duswalt hopes that a crowd-pleaser like ``Art'' will bring audiences back to the theater.

``Art'' will be presented at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 26 at the Rep, 24266 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the , Newhall. Tickets are $17 general admission or $14 for seniors. Due to strong language, ``Art'' is for mature audiences only.
