SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - ``You'll shoot your eye out!'' will soon be on the lips of everyone caught up in the hilarity and warmth of Jean Shepherd's ``A Christmas Story,'' which opens Friday at the Canyon Theatre Guild Theatre Guild

A gala champagne reception featuring works by members of the Santa Clarita Artists' Association will be held at 7 p.m. opening night, and the play will be presented at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 22.

Director Greg Finley has created a show suitable for all ages, sure to be enjoyed again and again through the holidays.

Jeremy Friedman, who recently had featured roles in the Guild musicals ``The Music Man'' and ``Annie Get Your Gun,'' will play the part of young Ralphie. Ralph, as an adult, will be played by Jymn Magon, who was also featured in ``The Music Man.''

Newcomers Sarah Bowles and Marc T. Deagon play Mother and The Old Man, respectively. Playing Randy Parker is Scott Hicken, Miss Sheilds is played by Patti Finley, Flick/Desperado One is Cameron Kelly and Schwartz/Desperado Two is Craig Vogeley.

Amanda Eyrich plays Ester Jane Alberry, Shannon Hoofman plays Helen Weathers and Dominic Giordano plays Scut Farkas/Black Bart. Additional cast members include Alex Aiken, Joshua Coen, Evan Fuller, Bryan Lund, Megan Indermill, Kali Jelen and Kaylin Mahoney.

 is the assistant director and shares set designing with Frank Rock. Patti Finley is the producer, Pat Robinson is the costumer, Marc Steinfeld is the lighting designer and Garrett Finley is the sound designer.

Tickets for this performance are $9 to $12 for adults and $7 to $9 for students and seniors. The Canyon Theatre Guild is located at 24242 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the , Newhall.
