'5mths jail a deterrent for suspect' CAR DEATHS.

THE driver suspected of killing two Irish women was given bail as five months custody was a deterrent, it was revealed yesterday.

Friedrich Vernarelli, 32, was freed on bail two weeks ago and Judge Antonio Lo Surdo's reasons for doing so were made public.

On St Patrick's Day in Rome Vernarelli's car struck Elizabeth Gubbins, 27, from Co Limerick, and 28-year-old Mary Collins
