'42ND STREET' OPENS TONIGHT.

LANCASTER - Theatergoers can experience the thrill of being a part of a Broadway show in the making when the musical ``42nd Street'' debuts tonight at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. .

Director Barbara Coates has assembled a cast of 45 for the Cedar Street Theatre Production, with Lydia Michael choreographing the musical.Conductor Dana Smith, whose recent credits include musical direction of both ``Annie,'' and ``Damn Yankees,'' will have a band of 16 in the pit.

The story opens in 1933 at an audition for a new singing and dancing extravaganza. The show-within-a-show derives its glitter from star Dorothy Brock, portrayed by Carla Morgan, who has been seen in recent productions of ``Damn Yankees,'' and ``Zombie A computer that has been covertly taken over in order to perform some nefarious task. It is estimated that millions of PCs around the world have been compromised and, under the control of a third party, routinely transmit messages unbeknownst to the user.  Prom.''

THE FACTS

``42nd Street'' first appeared on Broadway in 1980 and is based on four 1930s musicals about Broadway; ``42nd Street,'' ``Dames,'' and ``Gold Diggers Diggers, members of a small English religio-economic movement (fl. 1649–50), so called because they attempted to dig (i.e., cultivate) the wastelands. They were an offshoot of the more important group of Puritan extremists known as the Levelers.  of 1935 and 1937.''
