''Z News Stand'' Named Lottery's June 2001 Retailer of the Month.

The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. It will be held at Z News Stand, 140 Fox Hills Mall in Culver City.

Z News Stand, located in the Fox Hills Mall, has total sales to date of more than $500,000 and they have only been Lottery retailers since September of 1999. With a minimum of 34 percent of all Lottery ticket sales benefitting public education, Z News Stand has contributed nearly $200,000 to California's public schools. The store is one the top sellers in the Culver City area.

Owners Badruddin and Nargis Hudani have been instrumental in generating Lottery sales by various means, one of which is the "Wall of Winners" in their store. Showing actual winner increases sales, especially in a game that has had a recent big winner. The Hudanis are also very conscientious con·sci·en·tious

The Lottery provides 52.7 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34.1 percent to public schools and 13.2 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.9 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $12 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget.
