It is expected to eventually replace the GIF format, because there are lingering legal problems with GIFs.  Coffee Growers Federation Ltd ("PNGCGF") it will host the first "PRIDE OF PNG 2005" International Coffee Cupping Coffee cupping, or coffee tasting, is the practice of observing the tastes and aromas of brewed coffee. It is a professional practise but can be done informally by anyone or by professionals known as Master Tasters.  Competition from September 26 through September 30, 2005, in Goroka, Papua New Guinea Papua New Guinea (păp`ə, –y . This international cupping competition will assist in identifying the exemplary arabica a·rab·i·ca

a. A species of coffee, Coffea arabica, originating in Ethiopia and widely cultivated for its high-quality, commercially valuable seeds.

b. The beanlike seed of this plant.

 coffee grown by the farmer-shareholders of Coffee Pacifica and the members of the PNGCGF. The competition will be in two rounds; the pre-selection and international competition. The head judge of the competition is Mr. Willem Boot and includes nine other international judges. Additional information on the marketing and availability of the coffee from the cupping competition will be provided at a later date.

Mr. Willem Boot, the head judge of the competition, is the President of Boot Coffee Consulting & Training in Mill Valley, California, specializing in cupping and roasting trainings, strategic consulting for coffee companies, green coffee producers and international coffee organizations. As an international consultant, Mr. Boot has been working in Africa, Latin America and Europe. He was the head judge in various international coffee tasting events like the ECAFE ECAFE Economic Commission for Asia & the Far East  Gold Competition in Ethiopia - 2005.
