GuitarMania(R) II, Encore in 2004, kicked off today with a press event and unveiling at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is a museum in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, dedicated to recording the history of some of the best-known and most influential artists, producers, and other people who have in some major way influenced the music industry, particularly in  and Museum. GuitarMania(R) II marks the return of this public art project featuring 10-foot-tall models of Fender Stratocaster “Stratocaster” redirects here. For other uses, see Stratocaster (disambiguation).
The Fender Stratocaster, (often referred to as a Strat), is a model of electric guitar designed by Leo Fender and Freddie Tavares in the early 1950s, and manufactured
(R) guitars with creative designs by rock stars and other celebrities, as well as local artists.

The guitars, created by 16 celebrities and 74 local artists, will be on display throughout Memorial Day weekend, then will move for the summer to locations throughout Greater Cleveland Greater Cleveland is a nickname for the metropolitan area surrounding Cleveland in Ohio.

"This project positions the creativity of Cleveland-area artists right next to the talents of internationally known artists, world-class musicians and various celebrities," said Benz.

"GuitarMania(R) celebrates the musical heritage of Greater Cleveland, as well as its thriving arts community," said Terry Stewart. "We are pleased to be able to share this experience with residents and visitors alike."

GuitarMania(R) began as a public art project in 2002 by United Way Services in conjunction with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The guitars are fiberglass models of the Fender Stratocaster(R), which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary.

Each guitar is 10 feet tall, 40 inches wide, 5.5 inches thick and weighs 100 pounds with a stand weighing 60 pounds. They rest on a cement base weighing 900 pounds. Fender Musical Instruments Corp. and Prewitt Fiberglass created the fiberglass guitar figure.

Sponsoring partners include Clear Channel Radio, cleveland.com, Continental Airlines, Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland, Fender Musical Instruments Corp., The Plain Dealer, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Sherwin-Williams, Turner Construction and United Way Services of Greater Cleveland.
