IndiePix.net today announced that BeBe Films, Inc. and IndiePix.net have concluded an exclusively-for-download distribution agreement for the online release of the documentary "Bush's Brain" -- one of the landmark political films of the last several years. The exclusively-for-download online distribution will use IndiePix.net's patent-pending "Download-to-Own" electronic distribution technology, managed on the customer side by the IndiePix Disc Factory. The technology makes it possible for both Windows XP The previous client version of Windows. XP was a major upgrade to the client version of Windows 2000 with numerous changes to the user interface. XP improved support for gaming, digital photography, instant messaging, wireless networking and sharing connections to the Internet.  and Mac OS-X users to download a film onto a DVD -- an industry first.

Directed by Michael Paradies Shoob and Joseph Mealey, "Bush's Brain" premiered at the South-by-Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas in March 2004, and was released theatrically and on commercial DVD shortly thereafter. The IndiePix.net "Download-to-Own" release is a new edit and features as an exclusive DVD extra a recent extended interview with Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, IV, husband of former CIA operative Valerie Plame, whose identity was revealed by arch-conservative columnist Robert Novak which in turn led to the indictment of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, longtime aide to Vice President Dick Cheney.

"We are releasing the film now in this new Download-to-Own incarnation," says producer-director Joseph Mealey, "to give voters an insight into how Karl Rove will conduct this year's campaigns. Even though folks may now recognize the name and reputation of Karl Rove, most Americans still don't truly understand the 'Rove M.O.' They don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

"Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party.
how Karl Rove actually operates. And, as the 'Swift Boating' of John Kerry painfully showed us, Americans have paid a steep price for not knowing. The extremely low pricing on this release reinforces how important we think it is to get this message out now."

The "Download-to-Own" release of this title will feature an eight-week online blog-marketing campaign that already has the commitment of blogs accounting for 10 million views per week (as of August 25, 2006). The filmmakers expect that additional blogs will be added to those who've already signed on. Simultaneous to the blog marketing effort, the filmmakers will launch an aggressive print and broadcast publicity campaign eight weeks prior to the November elections.

In discussing the groundbreaking nature of the "Download-to-Own" release, and its availability to both PC and Mac users, Scott Abramowitz, IndiePix.net chief technology officer, said, "The release of the OS-X version of the IndiePix Disc Factory -- coincident with the launch of this title on 'Download-to-Own' -- will be a watershed event in the development of download technology -- making DVD downloads available to the Mac community for the first time."

IndiePix.net President Bob Alexander said, "This is not an off-television product resized for display on a thumbnail-size music player. This is a full featured, menu driven, movie on DVD designed for presentation on the finest home theater systems. It's got an attention grabbing theme. The new interview with Ambassador Wilson is an awesome 'Download-to-Own' extra. Releasing this film through our 'Download-to-Own' technology -- at this price point -- helps overcome the distribution barriers that may have prevented people from owning and seeing this title in the past."

The release of this title as a "Download-to-Own" DVD marks the first broad market appearance of the IndiePix/Pixel Tools content protection system. This system uses the Pixel Tools "MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video.  which identifies the transaction. Water-marking does not prevent fair use copying. Alexander commented: "Distribution is a key issue for indie filmmakers, and achieving our business objective requires us to break down the barriers that prevent the deserving work of filmmakers from being available to consumers. This new technology helps achieve that objective in ways that benefit consumers, benefit filmmakers, and expand the audience for independent films."
