''Big Features Come In Small Packages'': Challenger MT300B Series Stretches ''Utility'' Tractor Limits.

DULUTH, Ga. -- With the recent introduction of the new MT300B tractor series, Challenger puts the safety and performance found in larger tractors into its utility tractor niche - where economy, maneuverability and bottom-line improvement are essential. Available in four models ranging from 45 to 75 PTO horsepower in 10-horsepower increments, the MT300B Series is ideal for general agricultural, industrial and loader applications, as well as bat-wing and light boom-type mowing.

"The safety and simplicity designed into these models also makes them the perfect workhorses for fleet and governmental applications," said Adrian Crisp, general marketing manager for Challenger wheel tractors. "For example, reverse speeds on the standard 12 X 12 shuttle transmission are 15 percent slower than the comparable forward speeds for better control and improved cycle times. Four-wheel braking is also a standard feature on all-wheel-drive models for the stopping power of a larger unit," he continued. Tractors come standard with synchronized reverse shuttle or optional power shuttle.

Power to move the load comes from the Challenger 3.3-liter (201 in3), 3-cylinder diesel "Endurance" engine that is turbocharged on all models and intercooled on the 75-horsepower MT345B. The outcome is an impressive power-to-weight ratio for the type of strength and balance customers demand for loader work and utility applications.

In all cases, the MT300B Series boasts standard features not commonly found on a tractor of its size. Features include, electro-hydraulic engagement of both the differential lock and the power front axle; a 16-gallon-per-minute hydraulic pump with two remote valves as standard; a suspended operator platform; a Category I/II 3-point hitch with a lift capacity of 5,500 pounds at the ball ends, and a 29-gallon fuel tank for less time spent refueling. A folding ROPS and a flat floor are even standard on open-platform models.

The MT300B's capabilities are further expanded by a wide selection of options including, a choice of farm, low-ground-pressure turf (golf), and R-4 industrial tires in various sizes. Two mid-mounted remote valves and a joystick are also available for integral loader control, while an optional third rear remote takes the total up to five.

"Another valuable option, particularly with today's rising fuel costs, is the 540ECO (Economy) PTO," Crisp added. "In light-load applications like roadside mowing, the economy mode offers rated PTO speed at only 1,650 rpm, reducing both noise levels and fuel costs."

The power shuttle transmission provides the added convenience of push-button shifting. When depressed during gear shifts, a button on the shift handle electronically declutches the transmission for smooth synchronized shifts without having to depress the clutch pedal.
