Bennett's best-selling anthology of classic stories from around the world and draws its themes from a collection of classic American stories, European fairy tales This is a list of fairy tales, the dates of their earliest known printed version, the author and, if known, the collection of tales in which it was published. It should be noted, however, that not all stories listed below would be categorized as fairy tales by a strict definition , African fables, Bible adventures, Greek mythology, Asian folk tales and Native American legends. Each episode of the family-oriented series serves to illustrate powerful themes such as courage, honesty, compassion, responsibility, work, self-discipline and more. The new ``Adventures'' site has nearly 100 pages of information and fun activities based on the series. Series regulars 11-year-old Zach and 10-year-old Annie; a wise and friendly buffalo named Plato; Aurora, a warm and caring red-tailed hawk; Socrates, a wily bobcat bobcat: see lynx. bobcat Bobtailed, long-legged North American cat (Lynx rufus) found in forests and deserts from southern Canada to southern Mexico. It is a close relative of the lynx and caracal. ; and Aristotle, a feisty prairie dog, lead users through a variety of entertaining, educational interactive games and other projects for children and parents alike. The ``Adventures'' Web site not only contains animation and music but makes imaginative use of Shockwave- and Java-enhanced content. In addition to learning more about the classic stories in ``Adventures,'' users are invited to create and share their own stories and personal experiences for posting on the site, and explore the many interactive options in the Treasure Box, among them coloring-book pages, all-occasion postcards, word-finder and mystery word games, a ``Concentration''-like picture-matching game and much more. Also on the site is a special PBS For Kids Parents Guide, offering ideas and suggested topics that families can use to discuss the various virtues illustrated in the first six episodes of the series: work, honesty, responsibility, compassion, courage and self-discipline. Users are also invited to send comments about the series to, and ask questions of, the creators and producers of ``Adventures From the Book of Virtues.''
