LIKE many parents, Jean Williams' son is at an age when he is no longer young enough to be tied to her apron apron,

``When children reach a certain age you have to give them a certain degree of freedom.

``But at the same time, you want to know that they are safe.

`` I'd have a quick and easy way of knowing where he was.''
