`Tories in mad cow cover-up'.

They allegedly show the Health Secretary knew far more about the potential risks of the link than he revealed to MPs.

The file will be shown to the official inquiry into BSE reports next year.

CRISIS-HIT farmers yesterday drew comfort from the biggest hint yet that a ban on sales of beef on the bone is close to an end.

Agriculture Minister Nick Brown said he was ready to take a "political decision" to lift the ban leaving "consumers free to choose".

Ministry officials confirmed all cows possibly hit by BSE will have been slaughtered by March.

A farmers' spokeswoman hailed the move.
