`TREE CITY' PLANS ARBOREAL AFFAIR.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - The city will give away 1,000 trees today as Santa Clarita celebrates Arbor Day.

And along with the California pepper, carrotwood, brisbane box, coast live oak, sycamore and liquidambar trees come tips from the city's Urban Forestry Urban forestry is the care and management of urban forests, i.e., tree populations in urban settings for the purpose of improving the urban environment. Urban forestry advocates the role of trees as a critical part of the urban infrastructure.  Division arborists on how to plant the trees and care for them.

 will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Santa Clarita Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus.

In an event planned for families, Santa Claritans can learn the positive effect of trees on a community - through workshops, exhibits, games, crafts and a community tree planting. Scout troops will assist in the planting of two sycamores and three oaks Three Oaks may refer to:
  • Three Oaks, Michigan
  • Three Oaks, Florida
  • Three Oaks, East Sussex in England
 at the park.

A composting workshop scheduled for 2 p.m. will show how organic trash can be recycled as fertilizer. Also, mulch that had been ground up from residents' discarded Christmas trees will be available for free.
