`Super-union' formed.

AROUND 150, 000 workers joined a new ``super union'' for the finance sector yesterday after Unifi completed its merger with the UK's largest private sector union.

The link-up with Amicus was described as ``exciting and historic'' and builds on Unifi's position as the largest union in the country's financial sector. Amicus, which will have a total membership of 1. 2m, will now try to bring on board the 750, 000 finance workers who do not belong to a trade union. Before yesterday, there were 50, 000 finance workers within Amicus.

Unifi members backed the merger by a massive majority.
