`SUNSHINE' GLAAD TO BE AMONG NOMINEES GAY GROUP TO HONOR MAINSTREAM MEDIA.Byline: Greg Hernandez Staff Writer The independent films ``Little Miss Sunshine'' and ``Quinceanera'' and the mainstream comedy ``Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby'' were among the movies with gay characters to receive nominations for the 18th annual GLAAD Media Awards The GLAAD Media Awards were created in 1990 by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to recognize and honor the mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives. . The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced the nominations Sunday evening at the Sundance Film Festival, where ``Quinceanera'' won both the audience award and grand jury prize a year ago. ``Sunshine'' and ``Talladega'' will compete for outstanding wide release film along with ``The Night Listener,'' ``Running With Scissors'' and ``V for Vendetta.'' ``Quinceanera'' is among the outstanding film nominees that had limited release.
