The recipes were donated by more than 50 Ventura County residents and include personal anecdotes about how the recipe came to be a tried-and-true favorite of its contributor.

``A few years ago, we requested some recipes and cooking know-how from a church group in Camarillo. We had a huge response and they came in to bake for us,'' said Anne Hansen, development consultant for the Serra Project. ``After that we started doing special projects and the recipe collection came out of that.''

The collection consists of 22 recipes in each of four categories - hors d'oeuvres, entrees, sweets and a la carte. Each recipe is printed on a 3-by-5-inch card and comes with either a wooden spoon or a card holder in the shape of a rolling pin.

``They make wonderful gifts for people who love cooking and even for those who don't,'' Hansen said. ``Either way they will be supporting our grass-roots efforts to raise money and a difference in the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome .''
