The new program, a partnership between Emery and the Postal Service postal service, arrangements made by a government for the transmission of letters, packages, and periodicals, and for related services. According to Piazza and Kelly, the new Parcel@Home program offers shippers reliable business-to-consumer delivery service to every residential address in the country. The service is targeted for shippers of high-value computers and home electronic products and it specializes in home delivery of multiple-piece shipments, weighing up to 70 pounds per piece.

"Parcel@Home combines the nation's largest fleet of aircraft dedicated to heavyweight cargo transport with the world's most comprehensive residential postal delivery network, reaching more than 130 million points via 234,000 postal carriers representing on a daily basis virtually every home address in the United States," Piazza said. "It brings a new level of service to the business-to-residence delivery market, a market in which we anticipate substantial growth as more consumers order goods through e-commerce, telemarketing and mail order sources.

"Wherever a shipper is based, this new service means on time, every time, delivery of products when promised anywhere in the United States. And most important, it is a seamless service from dock-to-residence, utilizing the convenience of either the tracking system of Emery Worldwide or that of the Postal Service."

Piazza and Kelly detailed the highlights of Parcel@Home, beginning with pickup of bulk, pre-sorted shipments at the shipper's dock, with the options of cost effective residential delivery on a two-, three-, or four-day service, depending on final destination or shipper selection. Electronic delivery confirmation and full traceability are also among the value-added services.

"We're offering good old-fashioned reliable service with high-tech logistics for seamless delivery of a range of B2C (Business to Consumer) Refers to a business communicating with or selling to an individual rather than a company. The seamless freight flow begins at the shipping customer's distribution center or factory where Emery picks up the palletized shipments, which are then flown via the company's heavyweight air freight network. "This is an efficient way to gain the maximum economies of moving bulk-shipment pallets throughout the United States for local, individual residential distribution," Piazza said.
