`PATCH,' `LIFE' ANGEL NOMINEES.

The films ``Patch Adams'' and ``Life Is Beautiful'' and six CBS television shows, including ``Touched by an Angel'' and ``Becker,'' were among the nominees announced Wednesday for the 22nd annual Angel Awards.

The awards are designed to honor television shows and motion pictures ``whose subject matter reflects positive family values,'' said spokesman Henri Bollinger.

``Entries are not judged in competition with others,'' added Mary Dorr, president of Excellence in Media, the group that sponsors the awards. ``Each show is selected based on production quality and its moral and/or social impact, she said.

The awards will be handed out at a Feb. 25 ceremony to be hosted by Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel.

The nominees for Best Motion Picture are: ``You've Got Mail The audio announcement heard millions of times per day by AOL users. The voice was recorded by Elwood "El" Edwards in 1989 at the suggestion of his wife Karen, who worked in customer service for Quantum Computer Services (before Quantum became AOL). ,'' ``Patch Adams,'' ``Life Is Beautiful,'' ``Shakespeare in Love,'' ``A Bug's Life,'' ``Antz,'' ``Babe in the City,'' ``Education of Little Tree,'' ``Ever After'' and ``The Prince of Egypt.''

Nominations for Best Television Program are: ``The Promised Land,'' CBS; ``Dharma & Greg,'' ABC ABC
 in full American Broadcasting Co.
