`PARADISE' COULD GET PAVED.

Byline: Timothy P. Kelly Special to the Daily News

It might be hard for nonrunners to understand, but for an avid runner, there is nothing more inspiring than the thought of a five-mile run.

The place I consider my favorite My Favorite is an independent synthpop band from Long Island, New York. They released two CDs: Love at Absolute Zero and Happiest Days of Our Lives. My Favorite broke up on September 14, 2005, when singer Andrea Vaughn left the band.  loop is somewhere that everyone can appreciate. Whether you are hiking over one of the many trails, mountain-bike riding or horseback riding horseback riding: see equestrianism. , Happy Camp Canyon Regional Park is a place for all. Yet it is virtually unknown to most.

You will not see this park published in any listing of county parks, even though it is probably the most pristine, covering more than 3,700 acres, all at the doorstep of Moorpark.

If you find this paradise, you will see maps showing trails, but they aren't to scale, and it may be difficult to determine the park boundaries.

The city of Moorpark and Messenger Investment Co. want to change all that. They are proposing to tattoo tattoo, the marking of the skin with punctures into which pigment is rubbed. The word originates from the Tahitian tattau [to mark]. The term is sometimes extended to scarification, which consists of skin incisions into which irritants may be rubbed to produce  much of the area adjacent to the park with thousands of homes. In addition, they want to crisscross the park with roads to facilitate massive development. Not only would the park be severely impacted, but much of the surrounding area, which provides a scenic backdrop to our city, would forever be erased.

Over the many years and the many miles logged, I have never tired of the beauty or considered Happy Camp Canyon ordinary. You never know what you'll encounter - perhaps a deer, a coyote coyote (kī`ōt, kīō`tē) or prairie wolf, small, swift wolf, Canis latrans, native to W North America. It is found in deserts, prairies, open woodlands, and brush country; it is also called brush wolf.  or a bobcat bobcat: see lynx.

. Even bears and mountain lions mountain lion: see puma.  have been known to make appearances.

In my cross-country runs, I have met many people who have just discovered the park. I am always willing to offer directions or describe my experiences with the wildlife that abounds. The look of pleased surprise always turns sour as they hear of the proposed development.

I recently had a discussion with a man visiting on business. As I pointed to a prominent vista proposed for homes, he shook his head in disgust. A lifelong resident from Orange County, he knew - all too well - the effects of urban sprawl. As we parted ways he referred to an old Joni Mitchell song: ``Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

what you've got till it's gone. You pave PAVE Cardiology A clinical trial–Post AV Node Ablation Evaluation  paradise - put up a parking lot.''

This does not have to be Happy Camp Canyon's swan song. Moorpark does not need to expand its city limits. Please discover Happy Camp Canyon Regional Park, then discover Moorpark City Hall and let your voice be heard before it's too late. As for me, I've got to run for now.
