`ONE-14 BOY ... END OF WATCH AUG. 2, 2003' COLLEAGUES PAY FINAL TRIBUTE TO FALLEN DEPUTY.Byline: Jim Skeen Staff Writer LANCASTER - Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming. The Antelope Valley sheriff's deputies said a final goodbye Monday to fallen comrade Stephen Sorensen during a radio roll call. One by one, as their unit call signs were called, Sorensen's fellow deputies paid their respects in a sort of electronic memorial book that has become a department tradition. ``Steve, assist, protect and defend. Thank you for your service and your friendship,'' one deputy said. Another deputy said: ``Steve, job well done. Rest in peace.'' Other deputies, some with their voices cracking, chimed in: ``God bless your family. Thank you for everything you gave us.'' ``Steve, we're all better people for having known you. Be at peace, my brother. Godspeed.'' ``Steve, God bless you. You were a hero to all of us.'' The roll call ended with the dispatcher Software that determines what pending tasks should be done next and assigns the available resources to accomplish it. It may execute other programs or generate a list for human operators to follow.
