Barkin's bit, part of a larger group of celebrity cameos, was cut from the film, so, with ``Thirteen,'' she was invited back to the party and given a larger role opposite another series newcomer, Al Pacino.

The June release has Clooney's gang returning to Vegas and pulling a ``Sting''-like heist involving an old enemy (Andy Garcia) and a new one (a casino owner, played by Pacino).

Barkin plays Pacino's right-hand gal, wears a lot of expensive pink dresses and plays sexual politics with Damon. But she says reports of her being anyone's love interest (in the movie, at least) miss the mark.

``These movies are about love of a friend, love of money, love among men, loyalty,'' Barkin says.

``George liked it,'' Barkin says of the speech.

Did Barkin ever fall prey to one of Clooney's famous on-set practical jokes?

``He got me in so many ways,'' Barkin purrs. ``Soooooooooo many ways.''

OK, then.
