`My cliff terror at 240 feet'.

Haydn Hurcombe, 66, of Pontyclun, had been riding the Babacombe Cliff Railway in Torquay when his railcar juddered to a halt. The power had failed when twin railcars travelling in opposite directions passed each other on the cliff and Mr Hurcombe was flung from his seat, cutting his left eye.

He and another 16 passengers were stranded on the cliff side for the next two hours until a paramedic par·a·med·ic

 climbed into the car to help. Mr Hurcombe is now demanding compensation. A Torbay council spokesman said the accident was under investigation.
