Keanu will be starting back-to-back sequels of his ``Matrix'' hit in Australia next fall - for $30 million, plus 15 percent of the gross. A shooting schedule of nearly nine months is planned for Down Under.

Right now, the actor is in his final month of shooting ``The Replacements'' in Baltimore with Gene Hackman. And when that's through, he'll decide on the movie he'll do before he begins the second and third installments of ``Matrix.''

Reeves is saying he's thrilled about the prospect of being a father, but it seems obvious that if he's to spend much time with the young'un, it'll have to be on movie locations.

From the inside looking out

Forget reports that it's a go for the sequel to ``The Silence of the Lambs'' - with Jodie Foster Alicia Christian Foster (born November 19 1962), better known as Jodie Foster, is a two-time Academy Award-winning American actress, director, and producer. The word is that the screenplay is being refined, and at least a first draft should be ready by mid-October. But thus far, nothing's definite. Meanwhile, Jodie is proceeding with plans to direct Claire Danes in ``Flora Plum'' early next year.

Bells will be ringing

They describe themselves as playing Progressive symphonic metal[1], although they are often tagged as a gothic metal band by reviewers and reference sources[2][3]. . Miller spent the summer of '98 shooting two independent films, ``The Operator'' and ``Goat on Fire and Smiling Fish'' - but reserved this last hiatus for vacationing with her guy.

Miller says ``Goat on Fire'' was like guerrilla filmmaking - shot in 12 days. ``But it was fun, like camping. What happens is, if you work more than 10 hours, you get past the point of exhaustion, and before long, are having a hysterical, laughing good time.'' All that hard work apparently paid off. ``Goat on Fire'' recently screened at the Toronto Film Festival, and won the international critics' Film Discovery Prize.

The industry eye

Michael Caine may have missed getting an Oscar nod for ``Little Voice'' last year, but bets are already being laid that he'll be hot in the running for the upcoming ``Cider House A cider house is an establishment, often little more than a room in a farmhouse or cottage, selling cider only, for consumption on the premises.

The cider sold is usually brewed on the premises, from apples grown in a local cider orchard.
Rules.'' In the adaptation of the John Irving work, Caine plays a doctor in charge of an orphans' home in America during and after World War II. It's being set as a highlight of the London Film Festival in November.

Production on NBC's David Cassidy-produced ``David Cassidy Story'' gets under way Oct. 11, with some members of the cast still to be set. A casting source tells us the movie includes four speeches and 16 lines in three scenes for the actress who'll play David's ex, Kay Lenz. There's a 12-year-old Shaun Cassidy, who'll get two speeches in one scene, a Patrick Cassidy, age 9, who'll get a mere one line/one scene, and Ryan Cassidy, also one line/one scene. Not real heavy on the brothers, this bio.

Vince Vaughn and Ed Harris join up mid-November on a New Line feature called ``The Prime Gig,'' which will take us into the rarely dramatized world of shady telemarketers. Vince is the sharp young operator, Ed the legendary sales king.

Three-time Grammy-winning trumpeter Arturo Sandoval has much reason to party. He's releasing his ``Americana'' album this week - while he celebrates his newly acquired U.S. citizenship. With the support of the Clinton administration and signatures from fans, the Cuban-born musician was granted political asylum in our land, and is now a Yankee Doodle Dandy Yankee Doodle Dandy
