`MALLARD,' `ZIPPY' ON THE BALLOT.

When it comes to the comics in L.A. Life, your vote counts. And now we want it to count again - this time on the fate of ``Zippy'' and ``Mallard Fillmore Not to be confused with Millard Fillmore.
Mallard Fillmore is a comic strip written and illustrated by Bruce Tinsley. The strip follows the exploits of its title character, a politically conservative anthropomorphic green-feathered duck who works as a reporter at
,'' two of our more hotly debated strips.

Many of you don't like ``Zippy.'' Some say the print is too small, others just don't relate to the ``Zippy'' zeitgeist.

But L.A. Life believes in giving the ol' pinhead one last chance. To that end, ``Zippy'' is history in L.A. Life unless a groundswell ground·swell

of support comes to defend Zerbina, Griffy and Zippy himself. ``Zippy'' fans and foes - now is your chance to be heard.

Moving on ... is ``Mallard Fillmore,'' that right-leaning duck, too political for L.A. Life? Should he stay where he is, or be yanked from the section and sent to the Opinion pages ... or just yanked altogether? Remember - party affiliation doesn't matter ... or does it?

In other comics' news, ``Flight Deck,'' one of the comics readers voted on most recently, will be landing in L.A. Life Sept. 6. Also being added is a new comic strip comic strip, combination of cartoon with a story line, laid out in a series of pictorial panels across a page and concerning a continuous character or set of characters, whose thoughts and dialogues are indicated by means of "balloons" containing written speech.  ``Get Fuzzy Get Fuzzy is an American daily comic strip written and drawn by Darby Conley. The strip features the adventures of Boston advertising executive Rob Wilco and his two anthropomorphic pets: dog Satchel Pooch and cat Bucky Katt. ,'' a wry portrait of single life with pets.
