`Lipstick Jungle' star at Fashion Week

Kim Raver, who stars in "Lipstick Jungle," doesn't worry about her new NBC show being compared with HBO's "Sex and the City."

Raver, who attended Monique Lhuillier's show Tuesday during New York Fashion Week, plays a fashion magazine editor in "Lipstick Jungle," which, like the iconic HBO series, is based on a book by Candace Bushnell.

"Lipstick Jungle," which premieres Thursday, also stars Brooke Shields and Lindsay Price.

"We're honored to have that audience come to us," Raver said. "`Sex and the City' was such a fantastic show, but this is a different show. It's a different entity."

What about the fabulous clothes? Any similarity there?

"The fashion really accentuates the characters," the 38-year-old actress said. Raver attended Lhuillier's presentation at Bryant Park wearing a ruffled cream-colored skirt and jacket ensemble by the designer.

Meanwhile, Patricia Field, who designed the costumes for the "Sex and the City" series and upcoming movie, wasn't giving up any details about what fans will see on the big screen. Those who asked her about the film got nothing more than an eye-roll at The Blonds show Monday night at the Prince George Ballroom.

But Field fans need only click to ABC's "Cashmere Mafia" to get a look at what Field is offering lately.

Jaime King says she's a little obsessed with comic books.

The 28-year-old actress, who starred in the 2005 film version of the graphic novel "Sin City," says she's writing one with Kimberly Cox, girlfriend of "Sin City" writer Frank Miller.

"It's a take on various fairy tales," said King, who attended the Badgley Mischka and Monique Lhuillier shows at New York Fashion Week.

When she was growing up in Omaha, Neb., King said, she could often be found in the library poring over comics — "Calvin and Hobbes" was a particular favorite.

"I just find it such a great medium because you can take a character and then spin it off into its own series or whatever. And it helps that my husband is completely obsessed with them," she said, referring to "Fanboys" director Kyle Newman.

At the Monique Lhuillier show, King was seated in the front row next to Brittany Murphy, who clutched the hand of her rumpled husband, screenwriter Simon Monjack.

Amy Smart was also in the front row, along with Sophia Bush, who mouthed, "Oh my god!" at every passing gown and feverishly circled items she liked on the show's description sheet.

Also oohing and ahhing was Perrey Reeves, who plays character Ari Gold's wife on HBO's "Entourage" series.

Although the writers strike has meant fewer events where one can wear such fabulous gowns, the actress said: "I'll wear them for my husband in our Costa Rican retreat. Or just in the living room. Why not? It'd spice things up a little bit."
