`LOADED' PROVIDES MOVIEGOING BAD TRIP.

Byline: David Hunter David Hunter (July 21 1802 – February 2 1886) was a Union general in the American Civil War. He achieved fame by his unauthorized 1862 order (immediately rescinded) emancipating slaves in three Southern states and as the president of the military commission trying the  Hollywood Reporter

A tale of seven English slackers who gather in a country mansion to shoot a low-budget horror movie, writer-director Anna Campion's debut film ``Loaded'' shows promise but ultimately proves to be a dreary experience unless one is on the same wavelength as its theatrically self-absorbed characters.

Filmed in 1993 outside London, the Miramax release has New Zealander Campion's name (she's Jane Campion's sister) and co-stars Catherine McCormack Catherine McCormack (born 1 January 1972) is an English actress. Biography
McCormack was born in Alton Hampshire England. Her mother died of lupus when she was six years old and subsequently she was raised by her father who was a steelworker.
(``Braveheart'') and Thandie Newton Thandiwe Adjewa "Thandie" Newton (born on November 6, 1972 in Zambia) is an English BAFTA Award-winning actress.[2] Biography
Early life
Newton was born in Zambia, to a Zimbabwean health-care worker, Nyasha[3][4]
 (``The Journey of August King'').

Shot mainly in sequence, the film's focus is divided among three sets of couples. The leader of the group and director of the no-budget video, Neil (Oliver Milburn Oliver Milburn (b. 25 February, 1973) in Dorset. He is an English actor who played Matthew Bannerman in Families and Liam in Green Wing.

He has also been in The Bill, Backup, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, David Copperfield
), has a strange relationship with his therapist and a penchant for waxing pretentiously about art and life. He still hasn't slept with his girlfriend Rose (McCormack), who brings with her a large quantity of condoms in anticipation of the big event.

But the good vibes don't last long as Neil's rival auteur auteur (ōtör`), in film criticism, a director who so dominates the film-making process that it is appropriate to call the director the auteur, or author, of the motion picture.  Lance (Danny Cunningham) plants the suspicion that Rose is really enamored en·am·or

of Lionel (Mathew Eggleton), an actor in the Celtic-themed horror video who is filmed being buried. Lance's adventuresome girlfriend Charlotte (Biddy Hodson) is ambitious and frank, but gets caught up in the group's passionate airing of problems, jealousies and secret desires as the long weekend unfolds.

Meanwhile, smart-but-creepy Giles (Nick Patrick) is attracted to Zita (Newton), but she discovers he's an intellectual with unpleasant interests. Eventually, Lance talks everyone into taking LSD LSD or lysergic acid diethylamide (lī'sûr`jĭk, dī'ĕth`ələmĭd, dī'ĕthəlăm`ĭd), alkaloid synthesized from lysergic acid, which is found in the fungus ergot (  and the movie veers off into soul-baring hours with a video camera followed by a trip to the store.

Tragedy ensues and a body must be disposed of in what becomes a fairly pointless exercise in psychedelic melodrama. The mostly annoying characters talk a lot but don't say very much, while the performances range from subtle to overbearing.
