`ICE'd' Sorenson Codec Fires Up Video Compression at QuickTime Live!; New Hardware Enables High Quality Sorenson Video in Real Time.


LOGAN, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 1999--

Sorenson Vision, Inc. praised the performance and quality of the ICE'd version of Sorenson Video(R) 2.1 first unveiled to the public last week at QuickTime Live! in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

ICE'd Sorenson Video, the latest in a recent series of improvements to its highly acclaimed QuickTime video codec (1) A hardware circuit that converts analog video (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) into digital code and vice versa. The term may refer to only the A/D and D/A conversion, or it may include the compression technique for further reducing the signal (definition #2 below). See codec. , allows developers to compress digital video four to seven times faster than before. Brent Kelly, Sorenson Vision's director of marketing, said: "This latest product is just another example of Sorenson's commitment to both speed and excellence."

ICE'd Sorenson Video builds on the advantages of Sorenson Video 2.1, with added optimizations for faster processing when used with the Ultra BlueICE board from Integrated Computing Engines, Inc. (ICE). The BlueICE card is a multiprocessor board which features an array of eight Philips Trimedia multimedia processors. Together, ICE'd Sorenson Video and Ultra BlueICE create a blazing fast combination that enables the compression of standard video in real time.

ICE'd Sorenson Video is available as part of Terran Interactive's "Power Suite," which includes an Ultra BlueICE PCI card A circuit board that plugs into the computer's PCI bus and contains the control electronics for a peripheral device.
