Directors of VS Rugby are banking on the personal approach to finally win support after other attempts to secure assistance failed.

While fortunes on the pitch may be improving, the boardroom is in turmoil as frantic attempts are made to fill the void left by major sponsor Jaymann Finance next month at the end of a 10-year deal.

The loan firm's departure will leave the club struggling to meet the day to day demands placed on its bank account - it costs about Pounds 800 to stage every match and the ground rent is Pounds 1,000 per month and rising.

Offers of directorships, corporate deals and a hand in running the club are the carrots the board is using to attract backing from firms in the town.
