`HOLDING THE BABY' A FAR CRY FROM ANYTHING CLEVER.

Fox, the network that promises to be daring and distinctive, kicks off its new season with ``Holding the Baby,'' a formulaic sitcom that breaks less ground than a plastic shovel.

The baby should fire his agent for getting him into this mess.

The so-called comedy is about a guy who works, but his marriage didn't; his brother who works too little; his boss who wants him to work more; a nanny who doesn't want to work; and a kid who causes a lot of people a lot of work.
