NBC led the six networks with an 11.8 rating and 19 share for the week, Nielsen said Tuesday. November is especially competitive because it is a ``sweeps'' period, producing numbers that the networks use to set advertising rates for the coming months.

Buoyed by the return of 1980s icon J.R. Ewing in a movie that reunited the ``Dallas'' cast, CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  finished a strong second for the week with a 10.7 rating and 17 share.

ABC ABC

Major U.S. television network. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928.
 was third with a 9.6 rating and 15 share, followed by Fox's 6.9 rating and 11 share. A rating point represents 970,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 97 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of TV sets in use and tuned to a show during a specified time period.
