The first-day take could give ``Empire,'' originally released in 1980, a Friday-Sunday total between $23 million and $25 million. That is about 30 percent to 33 percent less than the $35.9 million opening weekend for ``Star Wars,'' three weeks ago, but still impressive during what is traditionally a slow period for films.
